The upcoming Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment exhibition (WETEX) will be focusing on clean coal as a source of energy as announced by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
WETEX 2015 will emphasize the utilization of clean coal as an energy source, its role in ecological sustainability and green economy and its key function in the production of electricity.
The said event which will be organized under the umbrella of Green Week from 21–23 April is in accordance to DEWA’s scheme to promote new energy projects to respond to rising demand for sustainable electricity. Dewa’s dedication to the highest international sustainability standards, the vision of Dubai’s wise leadership, and the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030, and will be discussed during the event.
Regarding the strategy, Dewa has launched the Hassyan Clean Coal Power Project on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model to generate electricity through the help of clean coal with an aggregate production capacity of 1,200MW in the first phase that is expected to be outfitted by 2020.
According to the Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, these projects will fulfill the growing demand for energy in Dubai and therefore will be a factor to the sustainable development of the Emirate.
WETEX 2015 will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre together with the World Green Economy Summit which targets to further strengthen Dubai’s position as a global hub for green economy and sustainability.
