A survey, responded by Arab youths, named UAE as the country they would choose to live in and would like their homeland to follow as anTwo in a row, UAE tops most desirable country to live in inspiration for development.
UAE outshined 20 other countries garnering 39% of the total votes in this year’s Arab Youth Survey from last year’s result of 31%. Following UAE is the United States with 21%, next is Saudi Arabia with 14%, and then France and Qatar which received 13% each. The young people of Qatar is said to be the most favorable, 42% favoring the Emirates.
Experts believe the UAE’s popularity is based on a strong economic outlook, moderate government, ease of conducting business, and its reputation as a secured sanctuary in a region of political instability.
Seven out of 10 young Emiratis also have a positive outlook for the country’s future. The survey says that 50% of them are more convinced compared to the last year’s 40%.
The United States increased to 25% from 16% last year denoting that it’s the only non-Arab country that showed a rise in favourable. Fewer Arab youths lean towards non-Arab countries, with just 14% from 17% in France as the country they would like their nation to follow. Turkey went down from 16% to 10% this year, and China slide down to 7% from 13% in 2013
The survey results also reflect the United Nations’ World Happiness Report in 2013 that ranked the UAE as the happiest Arab country and the 17th happiest in the world.
According to the Chairman of Communications of the Menacom Group, inspite of the chaotic times the region has been through politically, economically, and socially, the youth remain resilient and optimistic.
