About Dh1.74 billion is budgeted for the implementation of 23 main projects in Dubai according to the director-general of the municipality.
Among the major projects are the Dubai Fish Market, which is set to open this year; Dubai Frame, the Thuraya astronomical observatory and the Dubai Safari which is anticipated to open next year.
Construction works on the other projects are still ongoing since last year and they are financed by the budget set by the government. It is said that several main projects are expected to be ready this year.
According to director of the Project Management Department, Dh160 million has been outlaid for the construction of Dubai Frame and it’s already 75 per cent complete and will be ready before the year ends.
The project takes the shape of a giant window frame, and is currently rising within the area of Zabeel Park. The project will make it possible for the public to have panoramic views on both sides of Old Dubai and the New Dubai skyline.
In December, a market and community centre will open in Hatta but a group of villas are set to open in September. A Dh269 million worth of fish market project is also scheduled to finish in September.
Next year, the municipality will finish nine projects including the African Village worth Dh305 million which is included in the Dubai Safari project. The project is located in Al Warqa’a area. Once finish the park will feature enclosed spaces where animals will be placed and an open-air safari-like ride for visitors.
On the other hand, the construction for Thuraya astronomical observatory will start in June 2016 in Mushrif Park with a budget of Dh20 million.
Also included in the list of new projects planned by the municipality is the Dubai Club for Special Sports, which is expected to open in October 2016.
