The municipality is presently working on the construction of jogging tracks extending 8,440 metres and has already constructed cycling tracks extending 17,340 metres.

The projects will be constructed on Shakhbout bin Sultan Street, Shaikh Zayed street, and on the Arabia Gulf Street. All of these trails are planned according to standard specifications which measures 3.5 metres in width and fitted with ground markings.

The municipality is continuing the structure of the same exercise and cycling trails projects, with achievement rates ranging from 50 to 85%. They encompass the structure of combination pedestrian-cycling trails at Khalifa city, Shakhbout city and Mohammed bin Zayed city expanding 7 to 18km in length.

The merged jogging and cycling trails in the three cities measure four metres in width in a lane structured four metres off the kerb stone of the main avenue.

Cycling and walking trails are set apart or distinguished in shifting cycling trails along with the provisions fixed in the Urban Roads Design Manual.

In case of a merged trail, the two lanes are set apart by road markings or roadway as indicated in the master plan of pedestrians and cyclists in Abu Dhabi where the width will be 2.2 metres for the cyclists and 1.8 metres for pedestrians.  As for the town and visual manifestation of the project, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality will advance landscaping works on the sides of all paths.

In case the pedestrian track is on the edge of the street, directional signage will be displayed to direct pedestrians from the start of the junction.

The Walk at Khalifa city broadens 7.89km and 60% of the structure work has been concluded. The Walk at Shakhbout city expands 18.83km and finishing point has reached 50%. The length of The Walk at Mohammed bin Zayed Street widens 14.27km in length and approximately 85% of the construction has been finished.

The walks and cycling tracks in Abu Dhabi and the three cities will form an ideal street for residents to connect in healthy activities. The projects will also have an optimistic influence on the appearance and add more sophistication and classiness to the astonishing skyline of the three cities.
