The port in the city of Tangier is more than 90% complete according to the Development Corporation of the Port of Tangiers City (TAS).
The conversion project which is budgeted more than 6 billion dirham and it reached 95% at the end of June. The marina is 95% complete while the infrastructure work and construction of buildings of the new fishing port is 96% complete.
Furthermore, the completion of construction of equipment for the new fishing port is expected to be completed by December 2015. The first phase of the makeover of marina in the existing fishing port was 90% ready while the exclusion of the stranded wreck at the entrance of the port is in progress.
As for the plan of restoring the wall, the second phase for the works in Borj Dar El Baroud and Borj Naam was launched in 2014 and the third and final stage of restoration studies have been launched. For the meantime, the development in the restoration of the fortress of Borj Dar El Baroud has reached 50% by mid 2015 and the for the wall part of Dar Borj El Baroud and Naam, which started January 2015, reached a progress rate of 25%.
Regarding the infrastructure of the new fishing dock, the work of diversion of the gutters for the rain water were completed, while the infrastructure is set for completion by October 2015.
In addition, the Port of Tangier city intends to take in more than 700,000 visitors in the medium term.
