Swedish multinational furniture company, Ikea, is now preparing to open its store in Morocco settling at Casablanca City which will be the first in Africa.
The retail and design of furniture and product decors, Swedish-born Dutch company chosen a place in Casablanca as home for its 1st store in the country after finalizing its feasibility studies.
“Moroccans will later have access to a broad variety of beautiful and functional items at inexpensive prices,” the Ikea manager said on a press interview. The company is expected to employ three hundred people and generate numerous indirect jobs.
Ikea has stores in more than 40 countries across the globe and has now arrived in Morocco to match up with other big companies in the same industry that have already established their presence in the country.
Started in 1958 in Sweden where its largest store is located, Ikea has achieved a turnover of € 27.6 billion in 2012.
In Morocco, the main competitor of the Swedish brand will be Kitea which currently leading the domestic market furniture kit with 16% market share.
