The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened the main traffic alternative route on Shaikh Zayed Road follow the finishing point of the required works near Al Safa Park.
The traffic on Shaikh Zayed Road (in the way of Dubai) is being transfer while maintain the similar number of lanes in order to sure a smooth traffic flow.
A stable traffic diversion will be in place during the construction time to give way for completing phases of work of the Dubai Water Canal project, the early phase of which has already started.
Engineer Maitha bin Udai, CEO of the RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, He said work has started on the northern bridge in the way of Dubai on Shaikh Zayed Road close to the metro line to switch the traffic from Abu Dhabi to Dubai. Works have been distributing into 3 contracts.
The 1st is for agreement bridges across the water canal on SZR comprising eight lanes in every direction, rising 8 meters above the water level to ensure free routing in the canal round the clock.
The 2nd agreement include creation of bridges across the canal on Jumeirah Street comprising 3 lanes in every direction and on Al Wasl Street comprising 2 lane in every direction in addition to a rise linking Al Wasl Street with Al Hadiqa Street in the direction of SZR.
The 3rd agreement covers canal course digging works stretch more than 3 kilometers in similar with refilling of an island in the sea and manufacture of a marine wall around the canal to build the sand beach, further constructing marinas for yachts and the Water Bus.
The RTA also plans to build three walker bridges in major locations with an eye-catching engineering design to relieve the public movement and at the same time encourage crowd and visitor transport.
