The director-general and chairman of the board of executive directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, divulged that the transport authority decided to accomplish Phase II of the structure of air-conditioned bus shelters for commuters of public buses in Dubai.

400 bus shelters, air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned, will be built in different parts of Dubai, based on the capacity of demand in per area. Upon finishing, the project will lift the total number of bus shelters in the region to 1,285.

Al Tayer divulged the latest model design for solar-powered bus shelters  which will be powered by solar panels to create sufficient electricity to light up the shelter, and affixed advertising signs, in places whereas electric current is low or absent.
