Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has started work on the Academic City Road Extension project, which is approximated to provide expansions including Dubai Studio City, Mudon, Akoya, and Dubai Golf City.
The project value is assessed at AED67 million and set for conclusion in the second quarter of 2016.
This project consists of two parts. The first one includes the extension of Hessa Road in a sector extending 4km with two lanes in both direction. It starts from the entry point of Remraam Residential Project until the roundabout at the entry of Dubai Sports City; which will be changed to a signalized intersection to relieve the mobility of residents from and to the Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road.
The second part of the project includes the construction of a course connecting the extension of the Academic City Road with the Emirates Road which will give The Villa project around a 2.5km-long extension consisting of two lanes in both direction.
The project is regarded as the first phase in the construction of the Academic City Road Extension project, which starts from the Dubai-Al Ain Road and up to Al Yalayis Road. Upon achievement, this development is approximated to lessen travel time from 20 minutes to five minutes. The achievement of this development will be one of the main roads in the area.
