The design of the roof will give a sense that the construction is suspended on 18 steel arches.

As foundation to MTB’s central roof, 18 leaning arches with different sizes and 20,000 metric tons of roof grillage are needed. For the first half of the de-props, 45 experts, with the help of 60 hydraulic jacks, were needed to safely detached 30 temporary supports before putting the final elements.

The whole process is expected to be completed by February 2016, the roof will be a self-supporting formation, hovering above 18 mega-arches, which is considered to be the world’s longest indoor arch spreading at 180 meters, 52 meters in height, and weigh approximately 1,000 metric tons.

The Midfield Terminal Project is is 55% complete, and is set to be 70% complete by the end of 2015. MTB is expected to accommodate 30 million passengers annually.
