The designed planned for the upcoming five pedestrian bridges in Sharjah landscape has been authorized by the Sharjah Urban Planning Council (SUPC).

The project value for the said bridges is not yet revealed but the construction will be undertaken in cooperation with the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority.

According to the officials of SUPC,  the phase one which pertains to the five areas where the pedestrian bridges are to be constructed depends on studies of the proximity of the public transport station, the volume of traffic on the road, the number of accidents, number of pedestrians, and also the nearby markets and institutions. The bridges are planned to be constructed along King Faisal Road, Al Ittihad Road, King Abdulaziz Street, Al Taawun Road and also in other neighborhoods.

Elevators and shaded walkways will be installed within the bridges for ease of access.

According to the chairman of SUPC, the council is putting top priority on developing projects that can give and improve the services specially tailored for the residents and visitors going to Sharjah. The development of said infrastructure will supplement the appealing architectural setting will meet the requirements and desires of people and societies.
