Twelve senior executives from Morocco will be travelling to the United States to participate in a Reverse Trade Mission to Colorado and California this coming June 8-18.
The event is organized by The Webster Group, a leading event planning company, and sponsored by the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), an independent U.S. Government foreign assistance agency funded by the U.S. Congress.
Morocco, in support of its ambitious plans to develop and expand its solar energy infrastructure, will be part of the event. The Kingdom aims to produce 6 GW of capacity from sustainable energy resources by year 2020. In order to meet the said goal, it has launched a solar power plant investment program worth $12.4 billion. Also last year, in May 2013, the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy or Masen began the construction of a 160MW solar power plant worth around $860 million. It is possible that if more expansions are done, the capacity of the plant can reach 500MW.
One of the officials of USTDA commented that the event is beneficial not only to Morocco but also to the United States because this could be a way to build partnerships with the Moroccan solar sector.
