According to the most recent climate change performance index which evaluates every country’s climate policies, Morocco took the ninth place, jumping six spots from its previous ranking between Ireland and Cyprus.
This growth is due to the kingdom’s achievements in its renewable energy targets such as solar and wind farm projects which are made to assure climate-compatible development
Morocco’s efforts to become greener have received international consideration and praise. For the first time, the country has been included in the top 10 countries that most protect the environment.
According to the survey, Morocco has made the best improvement and got the best outcome compared to other listed developing countries, in addition to the fact that Morocco is the only state outside Europe whose general performance is graded as “good.”
The study also highlighted Morocco’s legal and institutional context on renewable energy and efficiency, for instance, its success to minimize its gasoline and fuel oil subsidies and being a pioneer role in constructing the world’s biggest concentrated solar 500 MW power plant in Ouarzazate.
The result stresses that once more, Morocco comes forward as one of the global leaders in renewable energy policy structuring.
