The Minister of Agriculture and Marine Fisheries stated that Morocco is the world leader in the production of sardines with almost 57% of national fish production.
Talking about the first edition of “Festival of Sardine” which celebrated from August 27 to 31 concurrently in five beaches of the kingdom including Al Hoceima, Martil, Agadir-Taghazout, Dakhla and Mehdia.
The minister averred that Morocco presently has seven wholesale markets, 22 ports of fish, 22 halls and units for industrial fish.
The Minister pompously hailed the accomplishments of Morocco in this part, remarking that sardines have continuously engaged a special location in the eating habits of Moroccans in terms of their dietary value and the price that is at the extent of all sections of society.
On the other hand, the customer organizations across the kingdom said the opposite. The minister stated that there is only valid for coastal cities and not for all the regions of the kingdom. Within the country, citizens do not have this tradition of sardine expenditure because they are unusual on the market.
Held concurrently in five beaches of the kingdom, the Sardine Festival aspires to endorse local consumption of fresh sardines and to highlight its value as a flagship for the national fish production, as well as to raise responsiveness about the benefits for their health.
