Etihad Rail has signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a Logistics and Freight Management solutions provider in Dubai to provide the firm with a more cost-effective and consistent mode of transport for its UAE operations.
Under the memorandum, Etihad Rail will serve as transportation for bulk and non-bulk materials and it will introduce freight facilities intended to connect production centers with pints of import and export. It will provide with a much more dependable and eco-friendly option to traditional modes of transport.
In addition, in time that the GCC rail connection is operational, the logistics firm is expected to considerably improve the range of its business and the national railway network will allow it to expand its business in the Emirates.
The Etihad Rail project is planned to be completed in 2018. Once completed, the UAE’s national rail network will extend over around 1,200 kilometers across the Emirates, providing both freight and passenger services.
