The National Ports Agency (ANP) has alloted a total of DH116 million investments for the immense dredging at the Port of Tan Tan.
The works which started last June 2014 are still ongoing and it is to reduce the sediments accumulated around around the ears, stop the sand and improve port accessibilty. The project entails the construction of sand trap, lowering of cob sands to bring them back the port to its most productive state, removal of loose materials consistently all over distinct areas, achieving pits and levels necessary to meet targets set by the ANP.
ANP has spent a total of 78.9 million dirham for the execution of projects for the development of the port under the investment program for 2015 to 2019. Specifically, these set of projects include the development of drinking water and electricity channels, public lighting at the port, the development and construction of harbors and road networks from the port, security-related projects, carrying out studies, as well as projects related to the refurbishment of tracks and equipment of horizontal and vertical port signals.
This region has significant potential for sea fishing as it is one of its important sectors. The port leads as a sardine port at the national level. The scope of the coastal area as well as the facilities and services offered by the Port of Tan Tan have fascinated many investors interested in the sector.
