Liwa Date Festival to attract 70,000 sightseers

It is projected that about 70,000 guests will come visit this year the Liwa Date Festival on the Western Region town.

This Emirati heritage festival is the region’s prime festivity of date production and what this organic product can give will happen from July 20 to July 30. The festival will reward 220 prizes worth 6 million dirham to the winners on beauty contest as well as best dates, lemons and mangoes from different competitions from a range of heritage, art, cultural and farm produce. There will also be relevant shows such as workshops running alongside the event. The celebration will also highlight activities to offer today’s generation to have a deeper understanding on the history of the palm tree and its significance to the Emirati heritage.

“The celebration is a standout amongst the most substantial festivals” as far as strengthening the part of heritage in making “a decent and positive future”, stated Obaid Al Mazrouei, the head of Liwa Date Festival. “Such an undertaking guarantees social advancement that commends legacy for generations to come.”
