The new plan intends to intensify the economic position of the region to make it a really global financial hub, enhance the quality of life of its residents, and to maintain its environment and distinctiveness.
After the cities of Marrakech, Tangier, Salé, Rabat and Tetouan, it is the turn of the Grand Casablanca region to have an integrated, balanced and inclusive development program, boosted through a participatory procedure involving countless stakeholders region. This determined plan is organized around four strategic axes.
The first relates to the development of living conditions of the population (2.6 billion dirhams), pays special attention to social groups in precarious situations and people with special needs, complementing the programs of NHRI. This heading shall include strengthening centers and nearby structures, support for the non-formal sector, universal primary education, rehabilitation of health facilities, the creation of a center of management interventions emergency and disaster relief, protecting the environment, improving housing conditions and the widespread coverage of drinking water, electricity and sanitation.
The second area concerns the increased mobility in the region (27 billion dirhams) through the extension of the tram line, the improvement of the bus fleet, construction of urban roads and provincial highways and the realization of engineering structures and tunnels.
The third theme is concerned with the promotion of the economic attractiveness of the region through the restructuring of existing industrial areas, the development of new industrial areas, services and logistics, and improving the business climate. It will be financed through a partnership between the private and public sector.
The fourth axis (DH 2 billion), it is the consecration of the place of the region as a national and international destination for business and leisure and hospitality major events area. It is expected in this context the construction of a large theater, village sports, upgrading Complex Mohammed V and Space “The Casablancaise” rehabilitation of the coastline, the forest and Merchich Ain Zoo Sbaâ.
Additionally, a main concern action plan is executed in 2014 for a total budget of 2.8 billion DH. On this occasion, His Majesty King Mohammed VI presided over the signing ceremony of ten conventions on the implementation of the development plan for the Greater Casablanca (2015-2020). These agreements have a total budget of 33.6 billion dirhams.
