It will only take two more months until the second phase of the upgrade work of the 14-km-long Jumeirah beachfront to complete and become the sought after destination for a getaway.
The Vice-President and Prime Minster of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, launched the project to make it a center which promotes healthy way of life in the emirate.
Expected to showcase its beauty to the public by October, The DH100 million worth transformation is just in time for the breezy weather coming in later this year. The first phase of the project stretching 2-km from Dubai Sailing Club to Dubai Municipality’s Umm Suqeim Centre was opened last month. With facilities like walking, cycling, jogging, swimming, and rowing the Corniche will be a major attraction for families including those who love the outdoors. The stretch from Burj Al Arab Hotel to Jumeirah Mosque currently features several open beaches.
Though the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), all the basic amenities will be guaranteed in addition to the four-meter-wide jogging lane, five-meter-wide walkway, and a cycling track which extends the full length of the Corniche. It will also have commercial kiosks, shaded benches, rest houses as well as public health facilities. Most facilities such as the benches as well as showers are ready, aside from the landscaping and decoration of the area which is currently on progress.
