Jebel Ali Port is on course to amplify its aptitude to 19 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) this year 2015, according to the Middle East and North Africa’s largest dock.
With its semi-automated Terminal 3 approaching to conclusion Jebel Ali will be able to manage further of the largest container vessels with the similar competence that placed it at the top of the world, the chairman of DP World, Sultan bin Sulayem, operator of the port stated.
Discretely, the Jebel Ali facility ranked No 1 in terms of port productivity for handling ships less than 8,000 TEUs, according to a report by JOC.com.
The port’s berth productivity increased to 112 in 2014, from 103 in 2013, according to the report, which assessed 771 docks.
Productivity is defined as the average of the gross moves each hour for each call recorded in 2014. Gross moves every hour for a single vessel call is classified as the container moves.
DP World, which runs three other harbors in the UAE, managed 3.9 million TEU in the first quarter of this year 2015 in the country, a 7.7% upsurge on a year previously.
