The Sir Bani Yas Island located 87 square kilometers off the capital of UAE bags the ‘World’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination’ title during the World Travel Awards 2015 held at Mazagan Beach and Golf Resort in Morocco.
The event was attended by different international tourism industry leaders, including senior officials of principal travel companies and tourist board chiefs. The esteemed nature and wildlife island reserve is currently undergoing transformation into an internationally-acclaimed tourist destination through the efforts of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC).
The island showcases three major resorts; the Desert Islands Resort and Spa, Sir Bani Yas Island Al Yamm Villa Resort, Sir Bani Yas Island Al Sahel Villa Resort. Originally dedicated to be a wildlife reserve, Sir Bani Yas Island is now the habitat to more than 13,000 animals as a product of committed environmental and conservation works. The visitors will experience the Island’s sundry flora and fauna by partaking in a range of activities that bring them to the Arabian Wildlife Park.
Other eco-friendly activities that the island offers are the mangrove planting, wadi walks, pearl diving, horseback riding, and kayaking.
The World Travel Awards is recognized internationally as one of the premier awards for a travel product, commemorating excellence in the world and travel tourism industry.
