A tittle-tattle is spreading around the hospitality industry that an Indian hotel giant is planning to built 5-star hotels in different areas in Morocco.
According to a report, Oberoi Hotels & Resorts is eyeing Rabat’s western coast and Marrakesh South-west part as locations for its proposed 5-star hotels.
Once required lands are finalized, the hotel will be built in Morocco’s largest city peripheral to Atlantic Ocean and in Marrakesh, the 3rd largest city of the country.
A report source said stated that “the group is looking at adding approximately 500 international keys through the two Morocco projects.”
No clear information has identified if Oberoi Group will come up with a partnership with a Moroccan industry company for these projects.
“Both these cities of north-west Africa have been major tourism magnets for Morocco for centuries. The development of both these destinations, particularly Casablanca, as business hots pots is an added attraction for luxury hotel chains like Oberoi,” the report added.
Oberoi Group is currently operating 30 hotels in Jaipur, Bangalore, Madina, Mauritius, Lombok and Bali, Indonesia, Kolkata, New Delhi, Agra and Dubai.
The Oberoi group currently has a presence in six countries under the luxury ‘Oberoi’ and five-star ‘Trident’ brands. It is also engaged in flight catering, airport restaurants, travel and tour services, car rentals, project management and corporate air charters.
