In May 2014, FIA and ADAC inked a conformity for the airport improvement design and advancement.

The scope of work contains advancement, improvement and expansion of the current landing strip, link up taxiways and changeover of the ground lighting and approach lighting systems including construction of a latest ATC tower and parallel Visual Flight Rules (VFR) runway and taxiways.

It also includes constructing a 33/11kV primary electrical substation and distribution network with all connected infrastructure.

Interested firms must submit EOIs by 23 August, 2015.  Prequalified companies will be requested to collect tender documents for a fee of $8,174 (30,000 dirhams).

FIA and ADAC inked a memorandum of cooperation in May 2014 for the airport master development plan and expansion, in which the latter will support Fujairah in piling up a list of planned module projects and running third-party projects.

ADAC is also working on construction of theAED 10.8 billion Midfield Terminal Complex at Abu Dhabi International Airport so as to lodge the estimated 30 million passengers yearly by 2017.
