Works for the second phase of a project which involves the construction of a six-lane flyover on Jumeirah Road kicked off with the help of detour which will allow for the waters from the Dubai Canal to run underside reaching the sea in Jumeirah.

The DH 2 billion project is divided into three phases with the flyover located in Al Wasl Road is now on progress and the construction of the 800 meter, 16 track flyover on Sheikh Zayed Road is over 50 % complete.

On the phase three, quarrying works inside Safa Park is ongoing  and once finished, the Business Bay Canal will be completely connected with the Arabian Gulf, making an island out of the majority of Dubai particularly Jumeirah, Al Karama, Bur Dubai, Zabeel, Oud Metha  and Satwa.

The last phase includes the construction of three pedestrian overpass connecting the two sides of the canal. Building of four marine transit stations and an artificial peninsula along Jumeirah Park are also included made peninsula along Jumeirah Park.

It is expected that the third phase along with phases one and two will be ready by 2016.
