The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) is ready for the second phase of its signature project, Flag Island, after finishing a landmark for the city by putting up the pole at the a water edge last in the year 2012.
Having the designs on hand for the upcoming phase of the project, the promoter will open a permanent art gallery dedicated to the design and architectural fields by early next year. Included in the plan is an open-air theatre with 200 seats which will be located opposite the Al Jazeera Park and the main government buildings.
According to the Chief Operating Officer of Shurooq, the Flag Island project is intended to mark the past of Sharjah and also to feature its future. Therefore, the components of the project being built need to be in line with this requirement.
