A leading hospitality chain announced that it is planning to introduce its first solar powered hotel in Dubai as the city is engaging seriously on renewable energy projects.
The Hotel Indigo is set to be constructed in 2017 and it will house in 170 rooms. It will gather its electricity through the use of solar power for all its energy requirements and will also reprocess all waste and water waste produced.
The hotel will be located in Sustainable City development sited in Dubailand close to Arabian Ranches.
The objective of the project is to hook up solar panels all over the development to the electricity grid. It is intended to produce 10MW of peak solar power and will accommodate more or less 2,700 residents.
Through the use of solar energy, the bills are projected to be 25 to 30 per cent lower than other same sized villas.
