The construction of phase one of Marsa Al Seef hospitality and retail development in Bur Dubai is said to be ready by third quarter of 2016 while the whole development is scheduled for completion by second quarter of 2017.
The development is about the renovation of the waterfront spanning at 1.8 kilometers stretch, into an Arabic-heritage inspired destination overlooking Dubai’s consulate area.
An in-house team of UAE based and international architects were handling the design concept. The team also handled Dubai’s long-established districts of Bastakiya and Fahidi, and has visited souq districts in Oman and Qatar to get the accurate ambiance of the tradition into the design.
The hospitality element is distinctly leaned towards a boutique feeling. There will be 200 rooms spread around the retail area. A ‘family’ hotel and other upscale properties are also expected to be built.
The master plan of the development includes dedicated bays for yachts, and also a dedicated station for the abra or water taxi of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority. There will be a gross of 6.5 hectare or 700,000 square feet leasable area for the retail and food & beverages section.
