The developer and operator of the national railway of UAE, Etihad Rail, revealed that above two million tonnes of sulphur has been brought to the port of Ruwais in the past 12 months.
The material was shipped from Shah and Habshan during testing, commissioning, and trial operations on Stage One of the network.
From the time when the conclusion of the 264-kilometre-route in 2014, trials have been running on a daily basis, carried out by Etihad Rail’s operating partner, ERDB. Complete profitable operations are anticipated to begin as soon as Etihad Rail is given its regulatory consents, which would enhance the volume of sulphur brought by rail considerably in 2016 and afar.
The statement sheds light on the environmental and economic advantages that the federal railway network will transport to the UAE, with Etihad Rail’s trains having already changed above 66,000 truck trips from the courses in the western region of Abu Dhabi in the past 12 months.
Accroding to the chief executive officer of Etihad Rail, Faris Al Mazrouei that proceeding, they will persist to construction this achievement as they move towards their objective of bringing above seven million tonnes of sulphur per year when they come into complete commercial operations.
