The new plant will be located at Al Hamra Jazeerah area and is expected to produce 22 million gallons of water per day (MGD). The project will create job opportunities and 25 per cent of it is for the benefit of the Emiratis. An estimate of 300 jobs will be generated throughout construction and 80 jobs when the plant is operational.

According to the chairman of the Emirati Company, the project is a significant development and was proposed at the right time mainly when governments are taking out financial assistance for fuel and services.

The completion of the desalination is set in 2017.
