Morocco is on track of investing €1 billion in port improvements, €350 of which will be expended on new installations at Casablanca.
The remaining €750m has been allocated to construct a 3m teu capacity box terminal at Nador, situated near to the Spanish enclave of Melilla.
Other new facilities will allow 25m tons of petroleum to be operated, seven million tons of coal and three million tons of general cargo. New infrastructure will be constructed by the publicly-owned company Nador West Med.
For 2015, €3.2 billion of public money will be expended on this project, with the rest to follow by 2030. At the same time, development of the port of Tangier is taking place, with structure in progress of Tanger Med II
