Contractors submitted their prequalification documents for the second phase of Dubai World Trade Center’s Dubai Trade Center District (DTCD) which is located on Sheikh Zayed road.
The development project measures 146,000 square meters and is currently underway on between the existing Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre and Emirates Towers.
Last March 2014, the project owner awarded the AED 375 million or $102 million contract for the first phase which involves the construction of an eight-storey office building and a hotel with 588 rooms.
Dubai World Trade Center is also developing Dubai Trade Center Jebel Ali that includes the site for the 2020 Expo. Dubai World Trade Center has made the appointment for program management of the Dubai Trade Center Jebel Ali development in late November.
The program management includes managing the development of the Expo site at 4.4-square kilometer which includes the 1.68 square kilometer ticketed area for the event. It is expected that the open and enclosed area will have 700,000 square meters of pavilions and other space for the 182 exhibitors, including nations, international organizations and businesses. Three large arenas will be put up for the cultural events and an 500,000 square meter space allotted for permanent structures for hotels, apartments, malls, and warehousing.
