A new attraction for Palm residents as well as its neighboring community and millions of visitors of Dubai will be built for a unique dining, shopping and walking experience.
There will be a new boardwalk along the entire stretch of Palm Jumeirah’s crescent by constructing above the breakwater rocks. The current size of the 11 kilometer path along the crescent on the manmade island will double up to about 6 meters as part of the plan. Over twenty waterfront kiosks will be installed vending drinks, food, and souvenirs.
Additionally, piers will be constructed at either the crescent’s edge, spanning to a hundred meters into the Arabian Sea and offering panoramic views of the ocean, the Palm Jumeirah as well as Dubai’s skyline. Glass-enclosed restaurants and coffee shops will feature on both piers.
During the Cityscape 2013, the Developer of this project, Nakheel, have announced the preliminary plans for the boardwalk as part of its goal to convert the crescent into a distinct leisure, shopping and culinary destination. A creation a 1.5km beach along the Palm’s western trunk is included on the plans.
The tender for the construction work will be released by the second quarter of this year.
Nakheel said that the Boardwalk at Palm Jumeirah is the newest example of the modern design and engineering projects that the country has.
