Dubai unveils flower designed solar panels

The Dubai Municipality has released the first solar panel designed and patterned to a flower and has the ability to angle itself to facing the sun.

Harvesting power from the sun, they call this device the Smart Flower created by an Austrian firm and holds sensors that allow to robotically follow the sun’s rays, the municipality said.

This aspect makes it twenty-three percent much efficient than traditional roof-top solar panels, reports Dubai Media office.

The Smart Flower possess a weather-adapting capacity and a passive ventilation system to make sure that it’s effective in hot temperatures.

Municipality’s Director General Hussain Nasser Lootah affirmed that Dubai municipality is firmly committed to modernization and execution of innovative ideas in accordance with the city government’s vision of turning into the most innovative & sustainable city in the world.

Furthermore, HH Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, VP and PM of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai was quoted saying that bigger investment and modern invention in the eco market will ultimately help the country attain the vision.

During the launch of Emirates Energy Strategy 2050, Dubai ruler declared that anyone who does not think of energy, thinks nothing of the future. The event looks into the enhancement and efficiency of power consumption by forty percent to raise the clean energy supply to fifty percent savings that are equivalent to about 700 billion dirhams worth by the year 2050.

According to Khalid Al Awadhi, Dubai’s environment, health and safety control sector Asst. Dire. Gen., the Smart Flower is considered one of the numerous projects launched via the municipality’s sustainability and renewable energy department.
