Projects primarily for Dubai’s infrastructure development will be constructed as a preparation for Expo 2020, according to a senior official at the Dubai International Project Management Forum held in Dubai on September 29, Monday.

The two-day affair was opened by the Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, Sheikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum with the purpose of discussing project management at the highest level. Managed by Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), with the participation of Project Management Institute, Emaar properties and DEWA, the event was graced by leading international experts in project management who shared their knowledge and experiences during the event.

The Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of RTA explained that the extension of Dubai Metro particularly the 15 kilometer extension of Dubai Metro Red Line to the Expo 2020 site and expansion of road infrastructure are among the major 35 projects worth Dh30 billion will be completed in the next few years.

In addition to the major projects is the extension of the Dubai Metro Green Line, the second phase of Etihad Rail project and also the phase two of Dubai Tram and Urban Rapid Transit System. The opening of the first phase of Dubai Tram is set on November 11, 2014, along with the smart phone applications to be launched by RTA as part of Dubai’s Smart City initiative.
