The first two weeks of Dubai Summer Surprises increased Dubai economy brought by the increase in the number of visitors and sales in shopping malls and retailers across the emirate against last year’s, according to the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE).
The Dubai Shopping Malls Group showed an average 10% increase in tread among 27 malls participating in this year’s summer promotion. According to another DSS partner, the particular event and deals have generated a 39% increase this summer.
The mid-seasons results confirmed that the visitors for this year’s DSS showed more interest for home ware, cars, clothes, and perfumes.
The DSS received positive response from visitors and shoppers coming from abroad, other emirates and across the region which matched by the increasing sales. Emirates airline testified that thousands of more passengers drawn to go to Dubai because of DSS, with visitors coming from both the GCC region and international destinations. A hotel chain in Dubai recorded an average occupancy rate of 70.2%, an increase of 3.6 % on the same period last year.
DSS started on August 2 and will run until September 5.
