The world’s busiest airport, Dubai airport has marked the highest monthly traffic of 7.3 million in August – highest in its 55-year history.
The passenger per movement during the month was 217, which is among the highest for global centres and a highlight of competence for Dubai airport.
Dubai International airport has received over 700 million passengers in its 55 years in history, controlling an unmatched average growth rate of around 15%.
The bumper traffic was amplified by the seasonal blast of passengers, as well as inbound traffic of residents coming back for the opening of the school year, in addition to increase in flight frequency and commencement of the latest services by Emirates, flydubai and other airlines.
Throughout the year, Emirates airline and flydubai embarked on new courses to Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Italy, Indonesia, Iran and India. Emirates airline also enhanced its capacity on its San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago, Dallas, and Houston networks. They also added daily flights to Seattle and New York in 2015.
With around seven million travelers accommodated for, almost 10% higher than the same month a year ago underscores the amplified demand for travel to and through the airport.
Dubai International managed cargo volumes totaling 207,427 tones in August compared to 196,986 tonnes recorded in August 2014, increased by 5.3%. Year-to-date freight obtained 1.6 million tonnes, up 2.9% compared to 1.6 million tonnes noted in the first eight months in 2014.
