A rice mill with the capacity to produce 80,000 tons per year will commence its operation in Abu Dhabi on 2016.
The inauguration of the new project was held at Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD).
Al Dahra Kohinoor, the brain behind this project is a partnership between Al Dahra Holding of Abu Dhabi and Kohinoor Foods of India. Its objective is produce up to 80,000 tons of rice a year. The facility will take control on production cycle from milling, storing, packing and distributing the rice within the UAE and exporting to foreign markets via Khalifa Port.
This Dh140 million facility is established to be the largest rice mill in the Gulf region and will contribute to the UAE’s food security.
Khadim Abdulla Al Darei, the vice-chairman and managing director of Al Dahra Holding announced that Al Dahra Kohinoor will guarantee the sustainable and free of disruption of supply of basic food into the emirate. The KIZAD will act as a logistics center for distribution of rice across the GCC.
Al Dahra Kohinoor facility can produce and store 50,000 tons of rice.
