The central souk in the city of Tan Tan is now experiencing considerable movement of interested group of people and recorded strong attendance of the population. The souk’s development work is to be incorporated into the regional economy.
Several projects and ambitious structural and infrastructure development are launched in the area, to improve its attractiveness and make an outstanding pole on the national level and integrate the program for urban upgrading of the second tranche. Among these most important projects is the development of the souk in the city.
The city council in partnership with the Agency of socio-economic advancement of the southern province initiated the development works which has an outlay of DH6,558,000 and will run for ten months. The project involves the covering the 2,500 square meter of soil, construction of wall for the boundary, two main entrances, tiling 2,600 square meter of soil, construction of 14 meat shops and construction of health facilities. the launching of the construction of the ring road linking the weekly souk with Hassan II Boulevard in the city, which will also be carried out in partnership between the Agency and the South Province of Tan Tan at a cost of DH4,251 million.
This rehabilitation project is part of the agenda to upgrade of the market infrastructure of the city and improve the tourism potential and guarantees to make a souk as an economic driver and a catalyst for the potential of the region.
Among the other projects included in this program is the urban upgrading like the construction of a new bridge from the joined efforts of the Ministry of Equipment and Transport and the Ministry of the Interior for a cost of approximately DH12.4 million. The work of this 97 meter long bridge, which lasted 15 months, focuses on the development of the passage or pipeline dedicated to the drinking water, sewerage, public lighting, coating passages and ability tests, as well as the development of football stadium in the city.
