The first day of Dubai Global Energy Forum (DGEF) was opened this Monday, April 15 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center.
The said forum was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
With this year’s theme “Clean Energy for Sustainable Development”, DGEF 2013 is an ideal platform for leaders as well as experts to exchange views on the latest technological developments and advances in the clean energy sector. There will be discussion of policies, programs and investment opportunities on the said forum.
The first day was a successful kick-off as it was attended local and International Ministers , International Government Representatives, UAE Key Decision Makers & Government Officials, more than 3000 high level attendees from International Energy, Industrial, Environment, Financial and Technology sectors.
At the opening ceremony, keynote speakers were Deputy Prime Minister of Libya- His
excellency Dr. Awadh Al Barasi, former Prime Minister of Ireland- John Bruton, CEO of RWE Technology- Dr. Michael Fubi and President of the Union of Municipalities of Bursa in Turkey – Mustafa Dundar.
Forum’s agenda and tracks starting today until April 17 are Value Creation and Financing, market creation and regulation and technology innovation and deployment.
This year’s forum will also highlight opportunities and challenges of investing in green projects, energy outlook to 2040, accelerating the use of clean coal technologies and unlocking solar power’s potential via advanced cleaning solutions.
Expected leaders and experts to lead the discussions will be Mr. James White, Mr. Bob Dixon, Mr. Ahmed Bin Shafar and Dr. Thani Al Zayoudi.
