In accordance to its sustainability and innovation vision, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has started the project to supply, lay and commission new 132KV ground cables measuring 202km in several 132/11KV substations in the emirate.
The vision ‘A Sustainable Innovative World-Class Utility’ is expected to successfully play its part in the development stride in social, economic and environment of Dubai by providing unremitting supplies of electricity and water to realize the UAE Vision.
The goal of the project is to deliver the constraints in the lead-up to Expo Dubai 2020 as well as providing electricity for several real estate projects.
The project involves the laying of 132KV cables for five new under-construction substations. Two of the said substations is designed to cater to the electricity requirements in Expo 2020. The remaining substations will be developed and assigned for several development projects. The total outlay of the project amounts to $41.3 million or AED152 million.
According to the Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, among the numerous projects that they have carried out, the 132KV power transmission grid is considered to be the pillar of Dubai’s electricity.
Moreover, the initiative is expected to increase the adeptness of the grids to meet the growing demand for DEWA’s services without ceasing in developing dynamic projects, particularly in the field of infrastructure to conduct services at the maximum altitudes of consistency and efficiency.
