The plan for Route 2020 which was included in the Metro’s Red Line extension and was designed for the upcoming Dubai Expo was unveiled by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Basically, the elevated section of the railway cover 10.5 kilometers and the remaining parts will go underground, two underground stations to be built. The Route 2020 is also projected to link with Etihad Rail at Al Maktoum International Airport.
There will be five elevated stations which includes Tower station and Nakheel Harbor station and it will be spot where the commuters will travel will be the transit point for commuters heading towards the Dubai Expo 2020 site.
The Nakheel Harbor and Tower station will be refurbished and expanded to have room for the Route 2020 along with the Red Line and the rising volume of passengers. The station will be operational while the works are ongoing.
The Expo station is said to be main station on the project. It will be elevated and spreads massive futuristically-designed wings, having a view over the expo site.
