Emaar Properties has apparently bestowed a 136 million dollar (500 million dirham) contract to Consolidated Contractors Company for the development of the Opera Grand Tower located in Downtown Dubai.
The tower, which will appear as part of the new Opera District looking out over Dubai Opera House, will rise 65 to 70 stories high – 56 of which will be private residences, The National reported, referring to a report from Meed.
Eight to 10 more new towers are anticipated to be built inside the Opera District, as indicated by Janus Rostock, Atkins regional design director.
The Dubai Opera House is being constructed as a feature of the overall architectural plans for The Opera District in Downtown Dubai, and will be utilized for musical operas, theater, concert shows, art presentations, symphony, movie screenings, sports events and seasonal projects.
It is intended to look like a dhow, a traditional cruising vessel, in which the “bow” of the structure will house the main stage of opera, orchestra and seating, while the stretched “hull” will have waiting zones, area for taxi drop-off, as well as parking.
The Opera House will show off an expansive open square plaza towards the Boulevard and an amphitheater to the back, which has been built via landscaping over the maintenance building for the fountains and lake nearby.
The Opera District is a trendy cultural destination in Downtown Dubai.
