Construction of the new Deira Fish Market project worth $73 million is about to hit the halfway stage.
Located at the Al Hamriya district, the site was visited by the Director General of Dubai Municipality and observed that 48% of the work has been completed and it is expected to be accomplished, fully equipped and ready to open by the month of August 2015.
Furthermore, the marketplace will deal with the whole necessities of community in a fish and vegetable market as the civic body will provide best services ensuring the buy and sell of fresh fish and healthy vegetable in the market.
Covering an area of 104,737square meters, the fish market will feature 770 underground parking spaces, 700 outdoor parking spaces and a pavement. A quay wall will be built measuring 600 meters. The project will also includes the development of the corniche in order to accommodate various types of fishing boats as well as water taxis.
About 33 kilograms of fish every year which is more than double the world’s average is expected to be consumed the people in the UAE.
