Abu Dhabi has received technical proposals for the approximated AED2 billion contract to construct the Warner Bros theme park on Yas Island. As soon as the technical bids have been assessed, commercial tenders will be accepted.
The project includes building indoor and outdoor areas for 19 themed rides. The indoor rides will be accommodated in a large steel-frame construction.
The project manager is US-based Louis Berger. The operator of the theme park will be the local Farah Leisure.
The development forms part of the continuing expansion of Yas Island, as Abu Dhabi intends to augment its place as a local tourism destination. The biggest new expansion is Yas Mall, planned to set off in November, eventually for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which will be on the Yas Marina Circuit.
It will be the emirate’s biggest mall and will contain 400 retail units and a 20-screen, state of the art cinema.
Last July, the local Theme Parks has bee awarded with an approximated AED250 million contract on the expansion of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, which is also on Yas Island. The work includes building construction for new rides and enticements.
