A car park of a new residential building in Al Nahyan Camp Abu Dhabi will be assisted by Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs).
An American company will take on the installation of the parking system of the 12-storey residential building. The robotic car park features 110 spaces, and will be ready and operational after six months.
The AGVs are machines particularly used in plants to transfer engines and heavy loads minus human intervention. At present, it is now being integrated in the parking world. The car park will be automated in three levels underground.
The new parking system will let the driver takes his car into a loading bay, then a guidance system parks the car. The instance that the driver needs the car again, he or she can request to take back the car at a booth. The car is checked and before and after photos will be provided to show there is no damage to the car. The car will be checked for explosive devices.
Another benefit of the new system is the option to wash and cool the car before it is retrieved. Several AGVs or robots runs on concrete structures and are considered safer compared to other automatic car parks with the “rack and rails” design on steel structures.
