Automotive sector in Morocco is projected to considerably amplify employment openings in the next five years, as Morocco has become a preferred investment destination for many of the world’s top car companies.
Car makers in Morocco will generate 90,000 new employments by 2020, thus, revealed by president of the Moroccan Association for Industry and Automotive Trade (AMICA), Hakim Abdelmoumen. He also averred that Morocco is seeing an industrial revolution, creating thousands of new jobs, because of main car manufacturers’ concern and significance in investing in Morocco, as well as PSA Peugeot.
Meanwhile, France’s PSA Peugeot Citroen has revealed that it will open a manufacturing plant in Kenitra City. The direct result of this new plant will be the formation of 4,500 direct employments and 20,000 indirect employments by the time the plant turns into ready in 2019. PSA Peugeot was pushed to invest in Morocco after the success of Renault, which commenced a factory in Tangier in 2012.
As a result of this evolution in its production facility, the Renault factory in Tangier will be one of the largest Renault production units in the world. These investments heighten Moroccan exports, giving to a diminution in Morocco’s trade difference.
On the other hand, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment, and Digital Economy, stated that the automotive sector was the key driver of Morocco’s exports in 2012-2014, with dealings standing at 40 billion dirhams.
