The Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed (MBZ) highway in Ras Al Khaimah will see additional roads in each direction from the Etihad roundabout.
The two-lane stretch measuring 6 kilometer long is considered the only two-lane stretch on the road that extends from RAK to Abu Dhabi and is expected to alleviate the heavy traffic flow the road receives every day.
According to the report, the project is part of the Ministry of Public Works’ strategy to enhance the capacity of federal roads in accordance to the international standards. It was also reported that ministry is now preparing to invite tenders for the job.
A senior official in the ministry also stated the current development and repair works on the road that connects all seven emirates of the country will soon be completed. The subject of repair works is the pavement of the third lane, and also covers a preventive maintenance of the other two lanes. A 2.5 kilometer road diversion will be completed the beginning of next April.
