The Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi is set to widen roads starting from Khatam Al Shukla to Mazyad Roundabout in Al Ain to get better
traffic course for vehicles particularly trucks.
This undertaking is in accordance with its Surface Transport Master Plan (STMP) which goal is to develop a maintainable, secure and integrated transport infrastructure in Abu Dhabi.
The objective of the project entails the expansion of the current road, making it a wider road with two-lane in both directions. The project will also put a subway for Kharir area and another intersection for Mazyad roundabout. Furthermore, DoT will construct entrances and exits exclusively for other residential areas on the road, exhibiting the newest lighting technology available for the road. Dhaher, Al Kharir and Mazyad are the neighboring areas where the project is expected to yield benefits once it is done. .
The road currently get around several areas such as Mazyad, Dhaher and Kharir in Al Ain City, as well as going through other planned roads such as Qua’a Road, Al Ain City, Truck Road and Mazyad border Interchange.
The Department of Transport has started seeking best traffic solutions from all the strategic partners at Al Ain City. The finishing design of the proposed expansion has already been complied and presented, together with all the required documents so that it will be put to tender on the second quarter of this year.
