Dubai’s Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department announced that moreBy 2015, all airports in the UAE are Smart Gates Operated smart gates will be operating with the fastest speed that offers the highest security levels very soon in the country.
The combined security system, to be in every airport across the country by 2015 and that will signify an end to long queues for people with biometric passports from 32 pre-approved visa countries, UAE and GCC citizens.
Emirates ID cards and existing e-Gate cards will be well-matched with the system. “It will aid in speedy passenger movement and lessen the period of waiting at the passport control in addition to the 100 e-gates at the airport,” the department said.
Travelers with e-readable passports bar codes can proceed via the smart gate. The smart gate will work on the identity card, e-passport, Emirates’ gate card or smart phone applications and last 20sec to move on with the transaction.

The smart gate technology is the first to use bio metrics, iris, fingerprints, and face recognition. He also confirmed that travelers do not need to register prior to using the system.
Accessible by a touch of a button, criminal records, outstanding fines and immigration details registered in any emirate will be detailed.
