The National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) in partnership with the International Research Network organized a Moroccan Summit on Oil and Gas that will be held today, May 7 until tomorrow in Marrakech, highlighting Morocco’s oil and gas potential.
This international event will enable participants to discuss key issues in the field of oil and gas exploration in Morocco such as onshore and offshore geological potential, onshore and offshore exploration, and the Atlantic coast and the African energy issues.
Cairn Energy from Scotland, BP, Chevron, Gulf Sands, Genel, Repsol, Kosmos Energy, Fastnet, and Anardakoare are some of the international oil companies participating in the said event. The event aims to provide an ideal session for meetings and exchanges to identify investment opportunities, initiate and complete projects in both the upstream and downstream oil and gas activities in the country.
Morocco being widely recognized in the exploration of conventional and unconventional hydrocarbons in Africa has become a destination of choice, says the press at ONHYM.
According to the Minister for Energy, Water, and the Environment, Abdelkader Aamara, the drilling of 30 oil and gas wells will be carried out in 2014, also pointing out that Morocco is still comparatively unexplored.
The 2014 Summit is a great opportunity for oil and gas companies operating in Morocco as well as other companies planning to invest in the country to delve into the untapped potential of Morocco’s subsoil.
